For this weeks Banger I have decided to do another throwback… because I can. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers were formed in 1983 in Los Angeles California. That’s 36 years for those of you counting. LA is where the original 4 members Anthony Kiedis (Vocals), Hillel Slovak (Guitar), Flea (Bass) and Jack Irons (Drums)  met, they were classmates at Fairfax High school and went by the name Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem.

It really took the Red Hot Chilli Peppers 4 albums to break through the music scene, which seems like a long time now with bands like Imagine Dragons, the Lumineers, and Greta Van Fleet having such major success with their first album. Under the Bridge is off Red Hot Chilli Peppers 5th studio album Blood Sugar Sex Magik which is their second best selling album with over 14 million albums sold and over 500 million Spotify streams. The song Under the Bridge is actually about a bridge in downtown Los Angeles(Anthony won’t give a more definitive location) where Kiedis went looking for his next “score” with Mario who is part of the Mexican mafia. Reflecting back on the day Kiedis says “That always sticks in my brain, as a low point in my life basically, about as low as I could get”.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers 12th unnamed album had been a announced to release some time in 2019 but was delayed due to the Woolsey Fire. My Fingers are crossed for new Chilli Pepper music soon.
